First off, I’d like to apologize for some of the quality of the art the past week. I was enjoying my new drawing style, but I think I’ve become bored with it for now. I’m thinking of working on a multi-day project to create a true comic book style drawing, similar to what my friend Scott is doing over at his site.
I also did the math, and it looks like I’m only one day off of having my 100 day of art falling on Christmas. That would have been too cool for that to happen. Oh well, it’s still exciting that I’ve gone this far. I need to prioritize better and get my projects done sometime before 10pm at night. That’s part of the reason the quality have been lacking.
Also, I don’t know if no one is watching this blog, or if everyone is just RSSing it, but the few comments I was getting have dropped off. One reason I did this was to get some criticism, so if you’ve got something to say and help me out, please do so.
Thanks again for watching.

Yeah, it’s a tough balance to strike between creating something that’s useful for yourself as a learning tool or a step to a new process and something that’s interesting for a daily reader and will incite commentary. I struggle with the same thing. I also wonder if maybe allowing the readers to sign up for WordPress accounts might make it easier for people to comment (three fields to type in might not be much, but it’s repetition), or maybe a star rating system for people that don’t want to write. Like I said, I’ve been thinking about this for my site as well.
FWIW, I like the fact that you’re consistent, which is something I’ve struggled with, and I like the fact that your drawings are very loose and spontaneous. I would like to see you work in other media or with other pens, because your lines are all the same width and I’d like to see some variation, and I’d like to see what you can do with more time. Of course, I only have one kid and I have difficulty with that, so I know finding more time isn’t always do-able. But yeah, maybe doing part of a drawing each day is the answer, or maybe doing things that are related somehow. Ultimately it’s your site so do whatever spikes your interest, but if you want comments, unfortunately you’ll have to pander to the audience and draw something that interests them. And therein lies the conundrum of art.
