Day 55 – Candyland

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

This one actually looks better after being scanned, than it does on paper. I think it’s because it increased the contrast

Notice – So Far So Good

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I can’t believe that I’ve kept up this project this long. I’ll be honest, there are some days that it feels like a chore, but for as many days that there are these, I almost always end the day glad I forced myself to do the work. Some of the pieces have worked well, some not so well, but that’s the nature of this beast. I’m not sure how big of a following I have going, but if you’ve been liking watch me work through my issues, then please pass on the word about this blog. Webdisaster has given me a few good promotions, which has been much appreciated. He is doing a similar project to mine over on his site.

There is also one thing that I find hard to believe, and that is how fast 50+ days have gone by. I’ve never really counted the days like I have since starting this project, and it really is amazing how it goes. It’s almost a performance piece in itself.

Well, keep the feedback coming, and I look forward to the remaining 300+ days.

Day 54 – Son House

Monday, November 9th, 2009

This goes back to an earlier way I drawing I’m used to, and I think it shows. This is the blues singer Son House. I didn’t think this one was starting out very well, but I really enjoyed it when I was done.

Day 53 – Sleeping Cat

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I know this sketch seems a little minimal, and it is, but I think this one could be used as part of a bigger project.

Day 52 – Singer

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been experimenting with different drawing styles. This was a little quicker of a sketch, and then I go back and add more definition to the lines. This one started from a photo of Little Walter, but I’m not sure how much it still looks like him.

Day 51 – Recylced Cup

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I started this sketch a few days ago, and really didn’t like it, so I scrapped it. I came back to it tonight to see if I could salvage it. It turned out okay, but it’s lacking some of the personality that my line drawings have.

Day 50 – Colored Penny

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I was at a loss to what to do tonight, and my wife suggested drawing over a print again, so I thought I’d give it a try. She likes the added green, I like the added blue. Go figure.

Day 49 – Daughter Kinda

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

I bought a set of multicolored Sharpies today, and thought I’d give them a go by trying to draw my daughter. I didn’t come out all that well, she looks much older than she is, but to my defense, I’ve had little practice drawing young people. I do think I have some fun ideas for using the Sharpies in the future though.

Day 48 – Lincoln

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

You’re probably tired of seeing Abe, but I think there still some life left in him. I do need to come up with a new idea for a print though

Day 47 – Shoe

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

So, I’ve discovered why the art has been suffering lately, it’s because I wait to long in the day and then have to rush through them to get them done. Same on me.
